Windshield Repair Kits provide deep penetrating crack filling resin to restore
windshield damage. Very similar to the materials used by professional glass
technicians to fill the air cavity with a strong penetrating adhesive that
will bond the loose glass and restore visibility.
Quality components are designed to evacuate air from the crack to fill
the cavities with specially formulated liquid glass that bonds the loose glass
to clear the distortion and works well on many common types of damage including:
Stars, Bullseyes, and Chips, preventing further damage and saving replacement cost.

For best results, repair soon after the damage occurs.
If repair will be delayed, cover area with transparent tape to keep moisture
and dirt from entering the damaged area. Do not use tape that will leave sticky
residue in or on the damage. The resin cannot stick to glass that has an oil
or dirt barrier in the cracks or on the surface, and
contaminates may also repel the resin keeping it from penetrating the cracks.

Surfaces must be clean and dry to make a proper repair.

-
Wipe away the dust and dirt with a dry paper towel.
You can also use a medical type alcohol towelette to clean the glass. If
alcohol is used, allow time for the alcohol to evaporate before going to the
next step.
-
The damage should be repaired as soon as reasonable to prevent small racks from spreading.
Vibration and driving torsions will stress the windshield
enough to enlarge the cracks if left unchecked.
-
Do not make repairs in direct sunlight.
The windshield should be shaded from direct sunlight until the entire repair
is complete.
The resin is UV activated and will begin to harden before you are able to
properly inject the resin into the damage if direct sunlight is allowed to
hit the resin.
Note: if available, you can do the repair in a garage and move the vehicle
outside into direct sunlight or use an ultraviolet light to cure the resin
after completing the resin injection process.
-
The ideal application temperature is between 50°F and 90°F (10°C to 32°C).
If the vehicle has been subjected to temperatures outside if this range park
the vehicle in the shade and allow it sufficient time to acclimate to this
temperature.
-
Do not allow the resin to come into contact with the car's painted finish,
wiper blades, or plastic trim or any other important surface as this may cause
damage.
Place a cloth or paper towel near the bottom of both the inside and outside
of the windshield, below the damage. This will catch any resin that might
flow from the repair area. No resin should flow on the inside of the windshield
but its better to be prepared than to chance damage to the dashboard surface.
-
Note: not all windshield damages can be repaired to restore full optical clarity.
Read all Directions before Beginning the Repair.

Warning:
Follow the guidelines for cleanliness, temperature, and chemical hazards
to avoid damage to your car and to ensure a proper repair.
Be advised that the repair can only be done once so carefully follow the
guidelines for cleanliness and temperature. The resin will likely act
as a solvent if you get it on your paint and then harden leaving a permanent
scar on the paint so don't allow the resin to contact these surfaces.
